NEW CHAPTER

September 2026

In November 2025, an unexpected opportunity came my way.

And in February 2026, I opened my very first salon — Maki hair salon in Amsterdam.

The first seven months were a journey of learning and finding my way.

I’m incredibly grateful that the salon became busier than I had ever expected.

But somewhere along the way, I realized I had left very little space for myself.

I became so focused on the work in front of me that I felt it was time to think again about the kind of salon I truly wanted to create — and the kind of experience I wanted to offer.

Returning to Japan

So this September, I returned to Japan to reset and reconnect.

Time with my family.
Reuniting with fellow hairstylists.
Experiencing Japanese head spas.
Discovering new techniques and equipment.
Food, service, and the small details of everyday life.

Things I once took for granted in Japan are not always the same in Amsterdam.

Being back reminded me of something important:

True comfort and a sense of ease are never created by just one thing.

The environment.
The quality of what we use.
The people.

The small details.

And the time we give.

These are the things that make me feel comfortable, too — and I want to make them a natural part of Maki hair salon.

Because when the small details come together, they create something bigger — comfort, trust, and a sense of being truly cared for.

The Next Chapter

Returning to Japan also reminded me of the standards, experience and knowledge I have built over 25 years as a hairstylist.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has continued to trust me — from my previous salon to Maki hair salon.

As the salon has grown, my vision has also evolved.

I want to give each person the time, attention and care they deserve — and continue doing work I’m proud of for many years to come.

Osaka is where my journey as a hairstylist began and where the foundation of my career was built.

Reconnecting with people from that time made my direction even clearer.

So I’m making some changes.

I’m reviewing my appointment times and pricing, and gradually introducing new services and equipment.

Not only to improve the technical side of what I offer, but to make your entire time in my salon feel more comfortable and considered.

This is not the finished version of my dream salon.

It is another step towards it.

Maki hair salon — a new chapter begins.
